Uber Technologies on Thursday introduced its flagship electric vehicle (EV) product Uber Green in Mumbai.
“Today is a significant milestone in Uber’s commitment to sustainable transportation in India. We are introducing Uber Green, our flagship electric vehicle (EV) product, in Mumbai,” Uber Technologies said in a blog post.
Uber In May announced that it will add 25,000 electric cars to its platform in partnership with fleet providers like Lithium, Everest and Moove.
The cab-hailing services provider said, “With Uber Green, you can now enjoy on-demand electric vehicle rides, making your travel experience eco-friendly and reducing carbon emissions.”
“We believe that sustainability should be effortless and integrated into our daily lives. By offering on-demand electric rides, we aim to provide a convenient and zero-emission transportation option for our riders in Mumbai,” Uber added.
The company said that its EV facility will be available for passengers travelling to and from the Mumbai Airport.
“You can find a dedicated pick-up zone for Uber Green at Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport,” it added.
“Additionally, the service will be accessible across various parts of Mumbai, ensuring that a wider range of passengers can contribute to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable mobility throughout the city.”
Uber Technologies further added that Uber Green will be soon rolled out to other cities, “enabling riders across India to travel sustainably and contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet for all.”
