Less than three months after commencing their inaugural Istanbul-Sydney service, Turkish Airlines is planning to ramp up to daily services from 12 January 2026.
The Star Alliance carrier will progressively increase the number of services throughout 2025, with the current four-weekly service to increase to five-weekly from mid-June, and six-weekly from the end of October.
The route will be operated using the airline’s two-class, latest-technology Airbus A350-900 via Kuala Lumpur, with TK174 arriving in Sydney at 1935 and departing as TK175 at 2115.
The airline’s A350-900 aircraft come in two configurations – one with 28 1-2-1 business class seats and 288 economy class seats; the other with 32 1-2-1 business class suites with privacy doors and 297 economy class seats.
Turkish Airlines currently has 18 of the former and six aircraft in the latter configuration in its fleet.
Going forward, the flag carrier expects to take delivery of 66 additional A350-900s and 15 A350-1000s.
Pending aircraft delivery schedules, Turkish Airlines hopes to operate Istanbul-Sydney nonstop from 2026 with the A350-1000.
