SWISS has introduced a revamped inflight experience for economy and premium economy passengers on long-haul flights, ahead of the debut of its new SWISS Senses cabin interiors later this year.

Customers will now be served a welcome aperitif wince their flight has reached cruising altitude – initially accompanied by a Sbrinz cheese apetiser. The pre-landing meal has also been upgraded, and will now be served on a tray or in a re-usable bento box.

Passengers will be able to choose from an expanded range of snacks during their flight, and “on some flights” cabin crew will further offer additional food between meals.

New pillows and blankets made from 100% recycled materials have been introduced, which the carrier said will “fit excellently into the future SWISS Senses cabin design”.

Customers will also benefit from improved headphones, while soap, hand lotion and facial spray in toilets now feature a new Alpine Valley signature fragrance.

Last year the airline unveiled plans for its new SWISS Senses cabin interiors, which will debut on the carrier’s first A350-900 set for delivery later this year, before being retrofitted on the carrier’s A330-300 and 777-300ER aircraft.

The interiors will include first class suites with sliding privacy doors, and business class seats offering direct aisle access and featuring individual temperature control and wireless charging.

Commenting on the news SWISS chief commercial officer Heike Birlenbach, said:

“These new product and service highlights will tangibly enhance the air travel experience for our economy class and our premium economy class guests. Taken together, they represent one of the biggest service investments in the history of our company.

“And they bring us a further step forward in providing our customers with a quality air travel experience that is hallmarked by both Swissness and a devotion to detail, to help ensure that we consistently achieve our high premium aspirations.”
