Star Alliance member Singapore Airlines (SIA) will expand its number of services to Brisbane, locking in four flights per day, in a major boost for the state of Queensland’s connectivity, tourism industry and exporters.
The changes from 16 June will see the number of weekly services rise from 25 per week, to 28 a week, which is back to pre-pandemic levels for the first time in five years.
It comes as Brisbane Airport recorded its busiest month in the international terminal on record, with 631,510 passengers travelling through the terminal in December 2024. The previous highest month was January 2020 with 620,164 passengers. December’s international travel numbers were up 17.7 per cent on the previous year.
The enhanced frequency from Singapore Airlines using Airbus A350-900 aircraft offers travellers greater flexibility, convenience, and seamless connectivity through Brisbane.
The additional services will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
SQ265 will depart Singapore Changi Airport at 0710 local time and arrive in Brisbane at 1645.
The return flight, SQ266, will depart Brisbane at 1810 and arrive in Singapore at 0010 the next morning.
Brisbane Airport chief executive officer, Gert-Jan de Graaff, welcomed the boost in flight capacity.
“This is a milestone announcement delivering four services per day, every day, marking the end of a long five-year recovery on this critical route for Queensland,” said de Graaff.
“The Singapore to Brisbane connection is our second busiest international route, bringing a constant flow of tourists from across Asia and Europe to Queensland.
