Qatar Airways (QR) will intensify competition on the busy trans-Tasman market after announcing a new daily service between Melbourne Airport (MEL) and Auckland Airport (AKL) beginning December 9, 2026.
The new operation places the Gulf carrier alongside Qantas (QF), Air New Zealand (NZ), and Jetstar (JQ) on one of Australasia’s busiest international routes.
The service forms part of the airline’s Doha (DOH)-Melbourne-Auckland schedule and will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.
