Etihad has announced plans to serve its daily Toronto route with the A380 for the first time.
The Gulf carrier has operated nonstop flights to the Canadian city since 2008 (and prior to that through a one-stop service via Brussels).
Last year Etihad upgraded the route from a Boeing 777-300ER to its A350 aircraft featuring the latest cabin interiors, and from 24 June the airline will deploy its superjumbo to Toronto.
The carrier’s A380 features 405 economy seats (68 of which offer extra legroom), as well as 70 Business Studios, nine First Apartments and the three-room The Residence suite.
However simpleflying.com reports that the superjumbo operating flights between Abu Dhabi and Toronto will be moved from Etihad’s New York route, which in turn will switch to the A350.
Fellow Gulf carrier Emirates has served Toronto with the A380 since 2009 (with a short break during the Covid-19 pandemic), and Qatar Airways launched flights to the city in December last year.
Commenting on the news Arik De, chief revenue and commercial officer, Etihad Airways, said:

“This will strengthen connections to the broader GCC and Indian subcontinent and attract more visitors to experience the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi.”
