Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific says that from August 2025 it will be one of very few airlines to offer both 100% seatback inflight entertainment and 100% high-speed wifi inflight connectivity across its fleet.

Customers travelling on Cathay Pacific flights will be able to enjoy the airline’s IFE system and high-speed wifi in every cabin on every route.

This is part of Cathay Pacific’s quest “to become the world’s best premium airline”.

Since introducing seatback IFE for the first time in 1992, Cathay Pacific says it has continuously invested in inflight digital innovations to enhance the customer experience.

The oneworld carrier’s commitment was further solidified earlier this year when it introduced 4K HDR, offering 4K ultra-high definition screens and a broader colour range inflight to create a more immersive, enjoyable and intuitive viewing experience.

Those travelling in first or business class, as well as Cathay Diamond frequent flyer members, can enjoy complimentary wifi services on Cathay Pacific flights.

The airline has been bestowed various accolades for its innovative IFE system, including recently being named a Gold winner in the “Excellent Communications Design – Interactive User Experience” category of the German Design Award and a winner of the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design – User Interface Design.

“This significant milestone reflects Cathay Pacific’s long-standing commitment to and leadership in innovation and customer-centric design. We understand the importance our customers place on having access to top-notch entertainment and reliable connectivity when they travel,” said new Cathay general manager customer experience design, Guillaume Vivet.
