As the peak Northern Hemisphere summer holidays come to an end, airlines around the world are looking forward to a less hectic shoulder season before demand picks up again ahead of the winter festivities. However, for some, prep for the summer of 2026 has already begun, with British Airways revealing its plans today.
Indeed, earlier today, the London-based UK flag carrier and One Global member shared its summer schedules with the world, and its plans for next year feature some key changes. Most notably, all of its JFK flights will depart from Heathrow.
BA Is Already Looking Forward To Next Summer
As announced earlier today in a statement released by the national airline of the UK, British Airways has made several interesting alterations to its summer schedules for 2026. For instance, the British flag carrier will upgrade its winter-only route between London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and Bangkok to year-round coverage. These flights will operate up to six times a week, adding 60,000 seats annually in the process.
While Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is a worthwhile end destination in its own right for point-to-point travelers, BA is also targeting those looking to travel further afield. Specifically, passengers can connect onward to the likes of Phuket and Phnom Penh thanks to its partnership with Bangkok Airways. Neil Chernoff, who serves as British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, explained that:
“We’re delighted to expand our long-haul network from London Heathrow and Gatwick next summer, adding more services to some of our most-loved destinations. Whether customers are travelling for business, leisure, or visiting loved ones, we hope they take advantage of these additional flights, which offer greater choice and convenience, making it easier than ever to connect with their favourite destinations around the world.”
Several US-Bound Routes Will See Changes
While international traffic to the US has suffered of late amid the nation’s ongoing tariff tussles, it remains a key market for BA. Nowhere is this more evident than at New York JFK Airport, to which it currently operates nine daily round trips. This figure will remain consistent next summer, but, as detailed in the table below, the sole Gatwick rotation will be swapped to Heathrow with a Boeing 777-200ER.
Elsewhere in the US, BA plans to increase its presence in key markets such as Miami (MIA) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), both of which are major hubs for its One World alliance partner American Airlines. Next summer, the former will see double-daily flights reintroduced, while the latter will see daily services restarted.
Away from these major hubs, key American leisure destinations such as San Diego (SAN) and Austin (AUS) will see frequency boosts next summer, with both of these routes from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) served up to 14 times a week in 2026. Similarly, the 10 weekly flights to Las Vegas (LAS) will be increased to 13.
The Best Of The Rest
While Gatwick has lost out as far as BA’s flights to New York are concerned, it will see additional capacity deployed next summer on the route to Kingston (KIN) in Jamaica. Indeed, in 2026, BA will serve this route four times a week, up from three, citing “a strong resurgence in leisure travel across the region” as a key factor.

Elsewhere, the Middle East remains a key market for many of the world’s major airlines, and British Airways is no different, with the carrier planning to more than double its frequencies between London Heathrow Airport and Bahrain (BAH). These will operate daily in 2026, underlining strong business and leisure demand.
