Airbus has unveiled new concept designs for first class cabins on its widebody A350-1000 aircraft.

The manufacturer presented the augmented reality designs at this week’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, and said the concept had been prompted by “increasing demand for First Class cabins on our Airbus flagship”.

The designs include a central Master Suite, which can accommodate two passengers and features a double bed, bar, changing area and dedicated toilet.

A reconfiguration of the A350-1000 setup would also allow for a “fully maximised” 1-1-1 layout, with toilets, stowages and the access stairs to the Forward Crew Rest Compartment relocated outside of the passenger accommodation area and into a new Central Module opposite the cockpit door.

Airbus said that the “unique interior proportions” of the A350-1000 could be “further complemented by new fascia and sculptured ceiling panels which provide an even greater sense of space, as well as an integrated welcome lighting panel at Doors 1 for extra ambience”.

The manufacturer said that the aim of showcasing the designs in AR was to “inspire potential customers and to demonstrate how the new centre module realises a true first class cabin that can be accommodated in the flagship A350-1000”.

Lufthansa is in the process of rolling out its new Allegris first class cabins on the carrier’s A350-900 aircraft, with features including the two-passenger Suite Plus option with two seats which convert into a double bed.

And Air France recently debuted its new La Première suites on one of its seven daily flights between Paris CDG and New York JFK.

The redesigned first class suites measure nearly 3.5 sqm, and feature floor-level storage, a chaise longue that converts into a two-metre-long, 75-centimetre-wide bed, an additional seat, and two 32-inch 4K screens.
